Premier League Preview: Liverpool host Arsenal, Chelsea meet Manchester United

Matchweek 9 of the Premier League 2026-27 season brings a high-profile showdown between Liverpool and Arsenal at Anfield, where the visitors will attempt to break a long-standing drought. Meanwhile, Manchester City take on high-scoring Brighton, and Chelsea lock horns with Manchester United in a Halloween fixture featuring two struggling sides.
Liverpool have won only one of their last eight league outings against Arsenal (D5 L2). Furthermore, the Gunners remain winless across their previous 13 league trips to Anfield (D5 L8) since 2012-13. Arsenal are also on the cusp of becoming just the second club to reach 300 away wins in the competition, sitting currently at 299 victories behind Manchester United.
Manchester City look to bounce back against Brighton following their maiden league defeat to Aston Villa. City boast a stellar 10-match winning streak in league games played on Halloween and have found the net in 24 consecutive Premier League fixtures. Brighton enter the contest with 23 goals, the most in the league, just ahead of City’s 20.
At Stamford Bridge, Chelsea and Manchester United face off as both teams try to reverse poor form. Chelsea have dropped 11 league matches since March, while United search for a spark after going eight games without a win across all competitions (D3 L5).

In other fixtures, Tottenham Hotspur welcome Crystal Palace riding a two-match winning momentum. Spurs have netted six of their eight league goals in the final 15 minutes, while Palace have leaked 19 goals, their worst defensive record after eight games since 1980-81. Fulham travel to Aston Villa seeking a third successive win, and Bournemouth host Leeds United with in-form forward Evanilson leading the charge.
Brentford face Nottingham Forest, maintaining a scoring record in all eight league games this term, whereas Forest have netted just six times despite strong expected goals numbers. A historic milestone takes place as Hull City and Ipswich Town meet in their first-ever top-flight fixture, both sitting on 10 points. Finally, Newcastle United close out the matchweek against Everton, who look to secure three consecutive away wins at St James’ Park for the first time.
