England's Marcus Rashford equals THIS record during clash against Ghana

The FIFA World Cup 2026 match between England and Ghana ended in a 0-0 draw at the Boston Stadium in Massachusetts.
During the match, England’s forward Marcus Rashford equalled the record for the second-most substitute appearances in the history of the FIFA World Cup. Coming off the bench, he took his tally of FIFA World Cup substitute appearances to nine, according to the FIFA website.
With this, he is sharing the second spot on the all-time list for substitute appearances at the global showpiece along with former Germany footballer Oliver Neuville.
Former Brazil’s footballer Denilson enjoys the top spot on the list with 11 appearances in the history of the global tournament.
Across two FIFA World Cup editions (1998 and 2002), Rashford made 12 appearances, including one as a starter and 11 as a substitute, accumulating 374 minutes of playing time. During this period, he registered two assists but did not score any goals.
Following the draw, the Englishmen also achieved an unwanted record for the most goalless draw in the FIFA World Cup history.
With the draw against Ghana, England has registered a total number of 13 goalless matches in the World Cup history. This is the highest number of goalless matches by any team in the tournament’s history, according to The Athletic’s X handle.
The list of England’s 0-0 results spans across multiple editions of the competition, beginning with Brazil in 1958 and including Bulgaria in 1962, Uruguay in 1966, West Germany and Spain in 1982, Morocco in 1986, Netherlands in 1990, Nigeria in 2002, Portugal in 2006, Algeria in 2010, Costa Rica in 2014, the United States in 2022, and now Ghana in 2026.
FIFA World Cup 2026, England: Upcoming match’s date and venue
The Englishmen will now lock horns with Panama in their next fixture of the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026. The clash is scheduled to be played on June 28 at the New York New Jersey Stadium in in East Rutherford.
The round of 32 will begin from June 29, followed by round of 16 from July 4. The tournament will reach the quarter-finals’ stage on July 10, whereas the semi-finals are set to be played on July 15 and 16.
The third-place play-off match will be played on July 19.
The title clash of the FIFA World Cup 2026 is scheduled to be played on July 20 at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford.
