EPL: Burnley relegated after defeat against Manchester City

After losing 1-0 to Manchester City at Turf Moor on Wednesday, Burnley`s return to the Premier League ended as they were relegated to the Championship.
Erling Haaland`s early goal was enough to give City a 1-0 win, which meant that Burnley will be placed in the second division next season. After scoring early, the visitors failed to get a decisive second goal but managed to hold on to a win despite Burnley`s efforts to snatch an equaliser.
With just four games left, Burnley is now 13 points outside of safety, securing their relegation to the Championship. Scott Parker`s team has had a challenging season, with just four victories and eight draws from 34 league games, along with 22 losses.
Burnley has only won once in its previous 25 league games, making their problems especially apparent in recent weeks. The loss increased their winless streak at Turf Moor to 13 games, which has also raised serious concerns about their home form.
Burnley demonstrated tenacity against the defending champions and produced a number of their own opportunities despite their position in the standings. However, they were unable to seriously test goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, with their attacking efforts lacking the cutting edge required at this level.
After Wolverhampton Wanderers, Burnley became the second team to be demoted this season. Tottenham Hotspur presently holds the final relegation slot.
Man City go top of the table with a win against Burnley
For Manchester City, the victory keeps their title push firmly on track, although they were made to work hard late on as Burnley pushed forward, even sending goalkeeper Martin Dubravka up for a stoppage-time corner. City held on, while Burnley`s fate was sealed.
With this win, Manchester City went to the top of the Premier League table ahead of Arsenal. Both teams are level on points with the same goal difference. However, City are ahead of the Gunners on the number of goals scored.
With just 5 games to go, the Premier League title could be decided on goal difference if both teams are level on points or on goals scored if both teams are level on goal difference as well.
