Pep Guardiola says everyone wants him fired after City`s defeat to Real Madrid

Manchester City were knocked-out of the UEFA Champions League by Real Madrid at the Etihad Stadium. Post-defeat, Guardiola suggested that `everyone wants to fire him` before his contract is up.
A Vinicius Jr brace was enough for Real Madrid to win 2-1 at Manchester City and complete a convincing 5-1 aggregate win against the English side. Erling Haaland managed to score one goal for the `Citizens`, but the match was virtually over after Bernando Silva was sent off early in the first half.
Speaking in the press conference after the game, Guardiola said that everyone wants to fire him in the media, and one day he will announce his departure.”Everybody wants to fire me. One day I will come out here and say ` bye-bye, bye guys`.” Pep Guardiola said.
After ten years at City, which is by far the longest he has managed a team, Guardiola`s future is still up for debate. When questioned, he has frequently mentioned that he has a contract at City that ends in 2027 and wants to fulfil his contract.
Real Madrid knock out Manchester City again
Real Madrid have been Manchester City`s kryptonite in the Champions League. The 15-time European champions eliminated City four times in five years. The only time City have knocked out Madrid was in 2023, when they went on to win the Champions League for the first time.
After a dominating performance in the first leg at Bernabeu, Real Madrid continued their fine form with a rare win at the Etihad Stadium. Real Madrid`s coach, Alvaro Arbeloa, is enjoying managing the `Los Blancos` and will be eager to continue his run in the UEFA Champions League.
Arbeloa is in his first job in elite management, yet he has led his team to wins over Jose Mourinho and now Guardiola in back-to-back rounds in the Champions League.
“I wouldn`t dare to say that I can beat Pep Guardiola in terms of tactical way. He`s an elite coach. He`s won thousands of trophies in his career– some of the biggest in Europe. What we`ve won is a tie.” Alvaro Arbeloa said.
