‘We played extraordinarily’: Pep Guardiola after win over Burnley

Manchester City edged ahead of Arsenal at the top of the English Premier League as a 1-0 victory at Turf Moor condemned Burnley to relegation on Wednesday.
Erling Haaland (5th min) scored the only goal as Pep Guardiola’s men went top of the table for the first time since August. “We played an extraordinary game. We did everything after a demanding game [vs Arsenal] three days ago,” said Guardiola.

The Spanish coach said his charges approached the match without fearing the consequence of losing, despite knowing that they cannot afford any stumbles in the title race.
“Run, jump, pass, shoot. That’s what we work daily. Even today we didn’t think about the consequences and what will happen if we are top of the league. We knew what to do to beat Burnley, and we did that,” added Guardiola.
“We had a lot of chances, but I’m super happy that we won. That [winning] is the most important thing,” said Haaland, who has now scored 24 goals in 32 EPL games this season.
City and Arsenal are level on both points (70) and goal difference (37), but the former are ahead, having scored 69 goals — three more than the Londoners.
