Ronaldo effect sends Al-Nassr ticket prices soaring before title decider

Cristiano Ronaldo and Al-Nassr are gearing up for a high-stakes finale to the Saudi Pro League season. The Riyadh-based club enters the final matchday leading the table with 83 points, holding a slim two-point advantage over rivals Al-Hilal.
A victory against Damac at Al-Awwal Park will officially secure Al-Nassr`s first league championship since 2019, turning the upcoming fixture into one of the most anticipated moments in recent Saudi football history.
The pressure on manager Jorge Jesus and his squad is immense, especially following a painful 1-0 defeat to Gamba Osaka in the AFC Champions League Two final just days ago.
Eager to bounce back, Al-Nassr know their task is simple: defeat Damac, and the league title will be theirs regardless of Al-Hilal’s result against Al-Fayha.
Ticket Market in Complete Chaos
The combination of a potential historic trophy and the global appeal of Cristiano Ronaldo has driven public interest to unprecedented levels. When Al-Nassr officially released ticket information earlier this week, prices were initially set at affordable rates.
General admission behind the goals started at 34 Saudi riyals (USD 9), corner sections seats cost 70 riyals (USD 19), and premium front-row seats were priced at 110 riyals (USD 29). The club aimed to fill the stadium and provide the players with a strong home advantage.
However, demand immediately overwhelmed organisers. According to reports from Saudifutbol on X, tickets sold out almost instantly, triggering chaos across both primary and secondary platforms. Resale prices reportedly skyrocketed, with some tickets listed at markups exceeding  400 per cent of their original value.
In an astonishing display of the “Ronaldo effect,” digital queues surged dramatically, with reports claiming that over two million hopeful fans entered online waiting lists for a stadium that accommodates only 26,000 spectators.
The frenzy left thousands of genuine supporters empty-handed and frustrated. This massive ticket rush also sparked fierce debates among ticketing platforms, with several parties exchanging blame over the alleged failure to block automated bots that allegedly hijacked the system and manipulated the marketplace.
Ronaldo’s presence, combined with the importance of the occasion, has elevated global interest in the match to another level entirely.
The Portuguese superstar is aiming to win his maiden trophy with the Saudi club since joining Al-Nassr after leaving Manchester United in December 2022.
