The FIFA World Cup 2026 match between the Netherlands and Japan ended in a 2-2 draw at the Dallas Stadium in Texas.
After the match, the Japanese fans present at the stadium were seen cleaning the stands, saying that it is their way to show respect to the players.
The official social media handle of Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) shared a post in which the Japanese football fans were seen picking the leftovers, bottles, and other items in the stands.
When asked about the gesture, a female Japanese fan said, “That`s the culture. But it`s like respect for everything. Respect for the players, supporters, and also for the stadium. We are honoured to be here, so we don`t want to make the mess and then leave it. So I think that`s the reason why we`re doing it”.

FIFA World Cup 2026, Japan vs Netherlands: Match summary
During the match, the Netherlands` skipper Virgil van Dijk scored the first goal with a stunning header in the 51st minute of the match. Soon after the first goal, Japan`s Keito Nakamura helped his team bounce back by netting a goal in the 57th minute.
Later, Crysencio Summerville`s delicious curled finish into the bottom corner just after the hour. At this point, the Dutch were in total control of the game and seemed to have secured the victory.
Minutes after Daichi Kamada registered a goal after a deflection, levelling the scores.
Following the result, both teams can emerge as dark horses, which can go far in the global tournament. So far, the Dutch have been runners-up three times and Japanese have never managed to make it beyond the round of 16.
The Dutch had looked most threatening in the air, so it was no surprise when Liverpool talisman Van Dijk rose to plant a well-placed header into the bottom corner after a pinpoint cross from club team-mate Ryan Gravenberch in the 51st minute.
The Japanese will lock horns with Tunisia in their next fixture, which is scheduled to be played on June 21 at the Monterrey Stadium in Mexico.
